Applying materials on 3D models using ID maps in Adobe Substance 3D Painter

Now that you have learned how to apply a material on any Texture Set and modify its settings, it’s time to apply materials using ID maps. Applying materials through ID maps allows you to drop different materials on selected polygon faces, so let’s do this!

  1. From the TEXTURE SET LIST menu, select TV_Front_Casing.

Note that there are a total of 18 speaker vents on the television’s front casing; now, if I want to apply a certain material by dragging it over TV_Front_Casing, it will get applied over the whole Texture Set:

The 3D model that we are using in this project already has ID maps created on it using Autodesk Maya, which we learned about in Chapter 1, Getting Started with Adobe Substance 3D Painter.
