1:1 messaging versus batch sends

Very similar to real time versus scheduled, 1:1 messaging versus batch sends are a very contextual choice. Usually, both of these options correlate together, so if real time is needed, it usually means that it is best sent as a 1:1 message, while scheduled sends tend to be better as batch sends.

Before digging too much further into this, we should dig into exactly what each of these sends is and how they are used. Let's start by taking a look at 1:1 messaging.

1:1 messaging

As defined by Merriam Webster's dictionary, 1:1 means pairing each element of a set uniquely with an element of another set, and messaging is defined as a communication in writing, in speech, or by signals. Combining these two, you get a definition of 1:1 messaging as a communication that pairs each element of itself to an element in a dataset to ensure a fully personalized experience.
