Transferring data and sharing configuration

Now that we have completed a review of the deployment pre-requisites and introduction to the service, let’s walk through setting up a storage migration Phase 1 and Phase 2 example with one preexisting virtual machine in our lab environment, a new destination/orchestrator server, and an on-premises server to server migration using Storage Migration Service:

  1. Starting with Windows Admin Center, we will locate the destination server, locate Roles & features, select Storage Migration Service Proxy, then select + Install as shown in Figure 13.1:

  1. We then choose the orchestrator server, select Storage Migration Service from the left navigation blade, then select Install to install the Storage Migration Service feature on this server, as shown in Figure 13.2:
