Summary


In this chapter, you learned how Hyper-V can work along with Remote Desktop Services to provide a robust VDI environment. We covered the differences between a VDI-based and a session-based environment and its peculiarities. You also learned that a VDI environment must be planned and not all scenarios are ideal for VDI.

Moving forward, you learned how to implement a RDS environment with a RD virtualization host/Hyper-V Host and the other RDS roles necessary for the VDI environment.

You explored the difference between a Pooled and a Personal collection and how it will impact the clients using the VDI environment. Additionally, you learned how to deploy each collection and what its specific characteristics are.

In the final sections, you learned two important features of VDI administration: RemoteFX and all of its requirements, and how to recreate the VM template to perform an update on the VMs.
