Summary

In this final chapter, you learned how to protect the virtualization environment with Windows Server Backup. You learned how Windows Server Backup evolved from NTBackup and what the backup and restore options for the Hyper-V host and VMs are. You learned to use the new incremental backup feature on Windows Server 2012 and saw how it saves space for backup data.

Moving on, you learned that importing and exporting can be useful mechanisms for avoiding loss of data from VMs, and that you can import the VM on a different host. Also, you've seen that, if the host has different parameters from the original host, the import process lets you resolve the mismatches to correctly import the VM.

With all of that we end this book, hoping that you now have a strong background in Hyper-V and are well prepared to go out and get to grips with a production environment. Good luck!
