So far, you have been able to have a pretty good look at the Hyper-V network configuration and usability. We have checked all the available configurations on the GUI. There are, however, some network items related to Hyper-V, and virtualization in general that are not so obvious. This section will walk you through these concepts. As these items are not focused on virtualization, we will cover just the basic concepts. Deployment, management, and the customization of these items are not within the scope of this book, although I would highly recommend you to study these concepts.
As explained earlier in this chapter, Hyper-V does not have a QoS configuration, but a Bandwidth Management system. However, Windows Server has a QoS policy configuration. This QoS policy is extremely comprehensive as it can prioritize specific network traffics, such as Voice over IP (VoIP), or deprioritize other network traffics like Peer-to-Peer (P2P) protocol.
