Overview of this book

Owing to its ability to create models quickly and with high level of dimensional accuracy, SketchUp Pro has become a popular choice for many industries, including architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, and video game design. If you are seeking to adopt Trimble's exceptional design software, Getting Started with SketchUp Pro serves as an ideal primer to prepare and equip you for its use. This book will help you lay the foundation of a project from scratch, set up appropriate units, and follow a guided path to structure your 3D models. You’ll explore the workflows used for creating designs from sketches, making CAD drawings (DWG), and even updating your existing 3D models. Summary

In this chapter, we discussed the Edit tools and their fundamental workflows and modifier key uses in SketchUp Pro. The Edit tools allow for unlimited possibilities in SketchUp Pro, even without using extensions or plugins. Using the Edit tools effectively in their basic forms and with their different options allows for a greater understanding of the model you are attempting to create and requires you to stay on top of ensuring your model is watertight and oriented the correct way! Finally, we looked at creating Guides in our model with the Tape Measure and Protractor tools.

In order to take our models to the next level, we will next discuss view options in SketchUp Pro, examining how to best navigate our model while hiding, showing, and looking at our objects.
