Duplicate detection settings allow you to turn off duplicate detection entirely, or to just disable it when creating/updating records., or during data import, as shown in the following screenshot:

All duplicate detection settings are enabled by default.
To use duplicate detection on an entity, you first need to enable the entity for duplicate detection in the entity properties. The following screenshot shows how to enable duplicate detection for an entity in the maker portal:

Once you have enabled the entity, you can create duplicate detection rules that identify duplicate records.
