App Catalog and the SharePoint Store

SharePoint has always been an extensible platform that allows it to be customized in various ways over the product’s lifetime. Mechanisms for deploying vary, from injecting code directly into SharePoint’s HTML code and packaging apps as features to deploying applications through App Catalog. In modern SharePoint, applications and extensions are deployed via App Catalog or installed from the SharePoint Store. The tenant-wide app catalog is a special site created at the tenant level and is used to deploy customized apps and SharePoint store apps for the whole organization. SharePoint also supports site collection app catalogs, which can be enabled on a specific site collection for testing and developing apps or isolating apps for specific use.
