Publishing document templates from SharePoint to Office applications

When users are making documents, presentations, and spreadsheets with templates, they need to have access to the latest versions of those templates. Otherwise, they may end up using outdated ones or copying from previous documents. SharePoint organization asset libraries allow you to distribute document templates from one place to all users.

At the time of writing this book, the client applications that support this feature are Word, Excel, and PowerPoint desktop applications, and PowerPoint Online applications.

When planning the usage of organization asset libraries, it’s important to note that there can only be 30 asset libraries in total and all of them reside within a single SharePoint site collection.
