Summary

In this chapter, we learned how access to content in SharePoint is managed. SharePoint provides several different methods for permissions management and granular options, as well as individual document-level permissions. We saw how permissions are managed at the site level, how permissions can be customized, and how permission inheritance affects those permissions.

Later, we observed how permissions can be managed using SharePoint and AAD groups, and how individual permission levels are managed. Finally, we covered external sharing controls and good practices for permission management in SharePoint.

In the next chapter, we’ll investigate lists and libraries, as well as control settings and how they can be modified using out-of-the-box tooling.
