Using the rulers and the guides

Other features that will help you properly position objects on a slide are rulers and guides. The difference between the guides you will use in this section and the Smart Guides discussed in the previous section is that you will now draw the guides and decide where to position them. In the previous section, Smart Guides were temporary guides automatically generated by Captivate.

In the next exercise, you will properly position the images of slide 9 using the rulers and custom guides that you will place on the slide yourself. Your first task is to turn the ruler on and to draw the guides using the following steps:

  1. In the Chapter04/takeTheTrain.cptx project, use the Filmstrip to navigate to slide 9.
  2. Select the Getting a ticket title shape to see its boundaries and its resize handles.
  3. Use the View | Show Ruler menu item to turn both the vertical and the horizontal rulers on.
  4. Place your mouse on top of the vertical ruler, at the left edge of the stage...
