Chapter 5: Modeling a Sci-Fi Race Ship

In this chapter, we are going to model a medium-poly sci-fi race ship. We will learn how to create a model with a lower level of detail than the FN SCAR, but with enough detail to still make it impressive. The model will be used in Chapter 6, Texture Painting the Sci-Fi Race Ship, to demonstrate techniques that can simulate higher levels of detail.

By the end of this chapter, we will produce a model with a medium level of detail, which makes it suitable for use in games and animation. This is important because highly detailed models will often not work well for such purposes, and they must be replaced with less sophisticated ones.
