We've explored another option of starting a mesh inside ZBrush, in the last chapter, which is
ShadowBox
. Now that we're more familiar with it and blocked in the most important elements on the model, we can step ahead and detail the harvester ship by working out the mechanical details. We will break down bigger parts into smaller ones and assemble them together, so that they can make up our complex ship.
In this chapter, we will elaborate on how to:
Break down complex parts such as the engines into smaller subtools
Detail mechanical surfaces
Create advanced objects such as the clamshell with ShadowBox and clipping brushes
Combine and subtract meshes with Booleans
Assemble and manage complex parts with subtools and polygroups
Bring all the learnt techniques together
Let's get on with it.
