Hot and cold – adjusting the temperature of the light

If you have a background in photography, you'll know that different lights have different color temperatures; therefore, they can illuminate a setting to appear warmer or cooler. Lights with lower color temperatures (measured in degrees Kelvin) cast light that appears more orange or yellow, while lights that have higher temperatures give off a colder tint that appears blue. Certain scenes should have a light that feels warmer or colder, and by changing the temperature of the lights in Cinema 4D we can create a tone within our 3D environment. Cinema 4D has multiple methods to cast colored light on your scene, which can result in a more realistic and pleasing image.

Getting ready

Open the Warm_Wine_Scene.c4d file in the C4D Content Pack. We are going to use this scene to demonstrate three different ways to warm up the tone of our wine bar.

How to do it...

Start by opening the project and picture yourself at a nice little outdoor Italian wine...
