MoGraph basics – cloners and effectors

The power of MoGraph is derived from the way you design and utilize two things: cloners and effectors. Cloners take objects you specify as clones and arrange them in various patterns and quantities. Effectors are specialized tools that are applied to cloners to modify their look and behavior. In this recipe, we will learn the ins and outs of these two building blocks of MoGraph.

Getting ready

Open the Cloners_Effectors.c4d file from the C4D Content Pack, and let's get started.

How to do it...

  1. This project file contains an Extrude NURBS object for each of the four playing card suits. These four objects are going to be the objects we use with our cloners and effectors. Start by opening the MoGraph menu on top and finding the Cloner option. Click to add a cloner to your scene, which does nothing but add objects to be cloned. Take each of the four objects and make them the children of the cloner, and you'll see MoGraph begin to stack them upwards.
