Timeline has been modified in Version 5 to improve our ability to control key framed events The Perform Timeline has been eliminated and combined under the Motion Timeline. No longer will there be an uncontrolled jump from a perform action to a motion, as it can now apply curves or blend them on the same timeline.
The Timeline has grown huge if you open all the available buttons and channels. In order to get a grasp on the new Timeline, we will break it down into sections, they are as follows:
Project Timeline: This is new for version 5 and holds the various generic timelines, such as the camera switcher and IBL parameters.
The upper-left corner of the Timeline holds the new Track list that toggles various tracks on and off and the Object-related track has moved to this location. This is where you can select the Timeline of specific objects:
Face: Direct lip-sync modification is now available in version 5. No more switching between CrazyTalk and iClone to tweak the lip movement. We can simply double-click on a Lip key and the Lip Synching dialog will pop up presenting us with choices of phoneme mouth positions. Phonemes are universal representations of certain sounds that are used with lip-synch to make the character appear to be talking.
We can delete or change the phoneme and we can move the phonemes up and down the timeline to modify the timing. The iClone lip-sync engine does a great job and with this new feature we can tweak it to make it even better, if we so desire:
