We'll use the Jana character to demonstrate MixMoves:
1. Open a new blank project. Select the Actor tab and click on the Avatar button.
2. Double-click on the Jana character.
3. With the Jana character selected, click on the Animation tab and then click on the Motion button if it's not already selected. With Jana still selected, click on the MixMoves button on the right side menu. The following image shows the Edit Action List:
4. Check the Auto Loop Motion checkbox, if it's not already checked.
5. Make sure the time scrubber is set to the first frame and the Jana character is selected.
6. Click on the Idle folder.
7. Let the motion play for a short while, then click on the Knee folder, and choose a motion from it. In this case, we used Kneel03.
8. Let it run for few seconds and select the Sit folder. Click on a sit motion, in this case, it was SitG01, where the character sits on the floor.
9. Let it run for few seconds then click on the Idle folder again and load an idle motion.
10. Press the stop button when you are ready to stop the animation.
Congratulations, you just learned the ins and outs of MixMoves! You can add the movements as the animation plays or you can stop at the end of each movement and choose another one. It's really just a matter of preference at this point.
I'm guessing, you noticed how smooth the transitions were between added MixMoves. That would be difficult and time consuming to animate. Once again iClone does the heavy lifting and we reap the benefits.
