In this chapter, we're going to learn about scripting in ServiceNow's service portal: a relatively new addition to ServiceNow, which provides a user-friendly UI. The service portal consists of a front-end, as well as a builder. Rather than UI macros and Jelly, the service portal uses widgets and the Angular JavaScript library. We touched on service portal configuration in Chapter 3, UI Customization, but in this chapter we're going to learn more about scripting in the service portal by building a user-friendly front-end page for meetings that tie into our Virtual War Room application.
While the rest of the scripting section of this book assumes a basic understanding of JavaScript, this chapter assumes at least a passing familiarity with the Angular JavaScript library. This is required for any advanced service portal widget scripting.
